Ok, this is the best I can explain it
on the very top bar it will say the web site you are on, when you visit, or look at a picture it will add more to it, like your on [link] (I put exc to make it not a link to the website), when you visit a pisture it will change to [link] the number in front of Picture- is the picture number, just copy that number and put :thumb#: # is the picture's number so this one would be :thumb86056757: K? some thing that helps me out when I get lost is the hlp desk, go to chat, and look for an official chat room named #help [link]

Icons can show up just about anyware, thumbs, I think, can only show up in journal, although I have seen thumbs used in chat before... also, incase you didn't know, you are able to put different expressions in your comments not like but like Deviantart has a list of these. but i'm sure you already know that.

It's very simple really, to do this all you have to do is put :icon and then the username of the deviant, then close it with onother : like this :iconjack12345667: I made that name up as an example. and to put images in your journal do the same thing but instead of icon, you put thumb, and instead of the username you put the number on the top bar of the computer (where it says http://), there will be a number in there when you go see a picture
